Toyota Alphard Van Conversion, Modifications

The original kitchen pod conversion that had been installed in Dave’s Toyota Alphard was not up to his expectations. He needed some upgrades to make his trips away to festivals and events more comfortable. The option of being able to charge his mobility scooter whilst on his travels also extended his accessibility whilst he was at the music events.

Top of Dave’s list was a fridge, with very limited space available a conventional fridge would not have fitted. Given this challenge we remade the pod and moved the existing appliances, squeezed in a top loading fridge with a remote compressor which we were able to mount across the pod where there was more space.   To keep up with the power consumption we installed a pair of A.G.M leisure batteries and a Sterling battery-to-battery charger, this would boost the battery bank capacity when the vehicle is running.  Dave supplied his own 240V inverter which we were able to link in to the 12V systems we installed which allowed Dave’s Scooter to be charged whilst off grid.

With the addition of these upgrades we have hopefully made Dave’s trips away to festivals a more enjoyable experience.
